T-Group Practice
Schedule: Every other Tuesday, 12:00pm-1:30pm Pacific Time
Dates: May 5th (Opening session), May 19th, June 2nd, June 16th, June 30th, July 14th, & July 28th
Drop ins welcome. The room closes 20 minutes after the start of the session out of respect for group formation. We ask new participants to the Dojo to please watch our demo, and read our Quicksheet, which includes our Practice Guidlines.
Practice Description: T-Group is a learning group. Your task is to learn about yourself and others through interaction.
Leverage the group to learn about your impact. Try on new behaviors that you’d like to cultivate. Learn by doing. Keep your focus on what is happening now, and with those you are with.
Session flow estimate (PT):
12:05pm start of session, welcome.
12:08pm warm up exercise in breakouts.
12:15pm return, then put into facilitated practice breakouts for T-Group.
1:10pm debrief the practice in breakout rooms.
1:25pm return for closing.
1:30pm goodbyes, and optional 30 minute continued debrief.
2:00pm Zoom room closed.
12:20pm is the cutoff time for late arrivals out of respect for group formation
Welcome to our version of T-Group. We will do a warm-up exercise in breakouts (2-3 people), and then T-Group for roughly an hour in breakouts (5-12 people). There will be an assigned facilitator to each room. They have three tasks:
1. Safety
Track individual and group nervous systems. Notice signs of overwhelm, fight/flight, or collapse, and intervene to support regulation, consent, and psychological safety. You can ask them for boundary support if you are experiencing overwhelm.
2. Structural Process
Hold the container of the practice. Keep time, clarify instructions, name transitions, and maintain the structure so participants can focus on their experience.
3. Practice Integrity
Hold integrity to our practice intentions. Model the practice itself. Orient people to the purpose, name when the group drifts, teach the practice in the moment, and reconnect the group to present-moment awareness and impact. They may interrupt you.
Facilitators will stay tuned to the perceived level of stress tolerance in the room, attempting to maintain a level of psychological safety. With that being said, they cannot give those boundaries to you. Boundaries are an important thing for you to practice yourself. It is your challenge to get out of your comfort zone, but stay out of your alarm zone. Find your learning zone.
T-Group Seminar
Schedule: Monthly on the 3rd Wednesday, 10:00am-11:00am Pacific Time
Dates: May 20th, June 17th, & July 15th
Seminar Description: This session is about sensemaking and application. We will spend most of the time talking about challenges we might be facing inside the practice, or taking the practice into our everyday lives. This might look like discussion, coaching, or roleplays either in breakouts or as a whole group depending on the size.
Session flow estimate (PT):
10:00am start of session, welcome.
10:02am check-ins, why did you come?
10:10am decide on group configurations and activities.
10:50am initiate check-outs.
11:00am goodbyes.
The seminars are more emergent places of discussion and exploration. You are welcome to join anytime, though the session activity will be dictated by the participant’s desires from the check-in process.
